Description

Alcohol is great to enjoy, but in some circumstances, it’s really not appropriate. That’s why there’s a well-deserved huge trend around alcohol-free drinks, in beer, wine, and spirits. And why not an alcohol-free gin?

Most alcohol-free gins are nothing more than water with hydrolates, a water-based flavoring. Simply put: some water, some hydrolates to add flavor, some sugar to make the taste ‘stick’ more, and then some food acids and preservatives to keep it stable.

We do NOT do that. We searched for and found a technique to make this more unique and natural.

This is how we make... the difference

Only real botanicals, 100% distilled!

Alcohol-free gin is perhaps the most logical alcohol-free drink that can be made. Why? Because for this, we don’t start with an alcoholic beverage and then remove the alcohol. If we did that, all the flavor would also transfer with the alcohol, and what’s left would have little to no taste. So, we’re not doing that.

For our Unplugged, alcohol-free spirit, we only use real botanicals. With these, we first make a very strong tea, which we then 100% distill. So, no aromas or hydrolates, only real botanicals, and everything fully distilled. Every drop in the bottle has thus passed through all the botanicals (because we work with vapor infusion) AND through our copper Holstein still with a botanical basket.

”Water-based distillation is completely different from alcohol-based distillation. The flavors and aromas of most botanicals can be perfectly carried by alcohol vapor but not by water vapor, and for others, it's the other way around. This is a process we worked on for over 18 months to perfect.

No food acids or preservatives

When we say every drop, we mean it. Because our Unplugged is 100% distilled, we don’t need to add stabilizers or preservatives. Furthermore, no food acids or other chemical substances; this is pure nature. It also goes without saying that we don’t add sugar; we’re not looking for the most commercial taste that ‘sticks’ well, but rather distinguish ourselves by bringing an honest and perfectly distilled spirit to the market.

So, which botanicals do we use? Well, primarily, they are in line with our gin. Juniper, coriander, and cardamom, zests of sweet and bitter orange, verbena… all complemented by peppermint and eucalyptus. Thirteen botanicals create a balance that surprises in every mocktail or cocktail. From an alcohol-free gin tonic to more complex mocktails where Unplugged is the star.

VAPOUR INFUSION? EVEN WITH WATER DISTILLATION

By distilling our alcohol-free Unplugged via vapor infusion, the contact time with the botanicals is shorter, which results in less bitter flavors. It’s a distillation process that makes the spirit so much smoother and, above all, fuller. Imagine the water vapor passing through the botanicals, carrying the flavor, and then condensing back into liquid. The flavor is truly in that water.

The disadvantage is that we need many more botanicals than for a ‘regular’ gin, and the distillation process also takes much longer. Sometimes up to 10 hours.

And then 100% organic!

Only organic botanicals go into the baskets. Fresh zests and dried botanicals. Even the placement of the botanicals influences the taste of our Unplugged.

Does that make a big difference in flavors? We find organic botanicals to be more intense in flavor. Moreover, they are even more natural. And importantly, it doesn’t really make the final product much more expensive. A negligible price difference in production but a difference in your bottle. That’s what truly makes it worthwhile.

Our Unplugged is therefore both 100% distilled and 100% organic, and there aren’t many like it on the market. It requires more craftsmanship, more control over raw materials, and more patience. And of course, not every batch is exactly the same; that’s precisely what makes it so natural. Not every harvest of botanicals is exactly the same, not every orange is exactly the same… that’s what makes it so fascinating.

100% recycled bottles

Every bottle that leaves the farm is also bottled on the farm. We didn’t just choose any bottle. Our bottle is made in Europe from 100% recycled bottles. It’s the first time they’ve succeeded in producing a bottle without adding any new glass. This has resulted in beautiful imperfections, just like with our distillates, where nature plays the most important role in the entire process.

From the soil where the raw materials grow to the box containing the bottles and every step in between… that’s the quality we guarantee.
